Asian Ethylene Activity: Low downstream uncertainty■ Uncertain downstream outlook keeps buyers cautious■ The
Breakeven HTML2_ Spread of ethylene-naphtha remains below.On Aug. 3, activity in Asian ethylene
markets was quiet as buyers were unable to secure sufficient inventory. Many buyers pointed out
the weakness of derivative margins as a reason for low buying interest in
August arrivals. Although September demand
was stronger than August's, some market participants stated that September's
outlook was uncertain due to volatile naphtha prices and tepid downstream
trade. The benchmark C+F Japan Naphtha
marker was up $5.75/mt to $746.75/mt by the Asian close on Aug. 3. The spread for ethylene-naphtha was calculated at
