customers further down the chain were subject to steeper increases in March
spot and contract prices due to the steep rise of upstream costs as naphtha
reached new highs. On March 8th, the average naphtha price rose by more than $200-215/mt
to $1,145-1,175/mt CIF NE, and producers were trying to recover that along with
higher gas, electricity, and logistics costs. Due to
rising energy costs and surcharge pricing, polymer consumers rejected
triple-digit price increases by producers. Total Energies has announced a natural gas surcharge of
