Despite thin price discussions, Asian
butadiene was stable on Feb. 14, 2015. As they weren't sure if there was a spot buying
appetite, market participants were more cautious than usual. The spot
buying appetite may be affected by a recent rise in butadiene margins, which is
important downstream production. The opening of new butadiene
factories in China has slowed down China's buying appetite. As an
arbitrage window opens, traders are looking for an opportunity to transport
ex-Europe cargoes to Asia. As a result, Asia's spot supply is
still limited. Naphtha-fed steam crackeders continue to operate at low levels
due to negative ethylene production margins. JG Summit,
