In the week ending April
26, spot prices on the European Acrylonitrile Market fell for the first month.
This was despite wide buy/sell indications. CIF ARA ACN spot price dropped $20-24/mt by the end of the
week to $2,200-2,50/mt on 26 April. Producers
said that high feedstock costs were a key factor in driving up European prices.
However, buyers were fulfilling contractual obligations and the demand was
resilient despite a weak spot market. High
costs had left little room for speculation in the spot market, the producer
said, adding that lower run rates at acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene production
facilities were contributing to reduced spot demand. One trader stated that prices exceeding $2,200-2,250/mt are
