Asian EDC/VCM: Prices stable despite tight supply / EDC buyers are cautious due to low margins / South Korea’s Hanwha restarts Yeosu VCM March 18 / Asian VCM activity remains slow EDC

The spot import prices of ethylene dichloride remained unchanged in the week ending March 20. Meanwhile, ethylene prices in Northeast Asia dropped slightly. EDC CFR Far East Asia remained unchanged on March 20, despite a lack of trade discussion, at $225/mt. EDC CFR Southeast Asia remained unchanged at $220/mt. On March 20, ethylene CFR FE Asia was down $5/mt from the previous week to $855/mt. EDC spot trading was very quiet, except for a deal with a Thai buyer. The buyers were said to be waiting for the downstream market to develop before deciding to purchase cargoes.
