Sources said that the naphtha East/West
spread -- between CFR Japan naphtha cargo Swaps and the CIF equivalent -- has
reached its highest level in two years, at $28.25-34.50/mt. This is the highest
value since April 2020. November was $22.75-27.25/mt. A source stated that there
is a large clean freight rally in the East so the naphtha East/West must be
wider to accommodate more freight. "Also
olefins received a better bid in East so crackers should be given a better
incentive to run." A second source
stated that the paraxylene margins were good right now, which is driving demand
for heavy full-range naphtha. Russia's cargoes are out, so crackers should have
