- East-West Arbitrage is still open- Rhine water levels are on the rise



According to Kpler shipping data on Aug. 22,
European naphtha exports from East of Suez markets -- which is one of the main
factors underpinning values - were expected to reach their highest level since
April 2020. Sources
said that Asia's aromatics production margins were healthy. Although the spread
between CFR Japan naphtha and China paraxylene marker has been decreasing, it
remained above the breakeven level at $280-$300/mt. This supports the demand for
splitter-feed naphtha grades. The
September East-West spread, which is the premium for the CFR Japan naphtha
cargo exchange over the CIF NWE equivalent, was valued at $1-2/mt at $20.50-25.50/mt.
October was priced at $17.50-23.50/mt. Traders
