Asian benzene prices dropped $30.33/mt to
$891.67/mt FOB Korea on Aug. 25, as sellers reduced their offers. FOB Korea's offer level
dropped to $890/mt H2 September loading and $895/mt October loading close to
market close. The October loading bid was last heard at $892/mt. Based on lower H2 September loading prices, the H2
September-October spread was reduced to a $4/mt contango. China's domestic market declined from Yuan 63.33/mt per day
to Yuan 7623/mt, which equates to $965.04/mt if you consider import parity. Sources indicated that the lower benzene prices in China
could be partly due to increased port inventory, which rose 29.33% week-on-week
to 48,500mt on August 25. The styrene
