Asian propylene prices rose on Aug. 31, as
tighter spot supplies helped to offset a weaker feedstock market. The ICE October Brent
crude oils futures contract fell $7.13/b from its previous Asian close of
$97.41/b on Aug. 31 at 0830 GMT. Due to
widespread production cuts in NE Asia, the sharp fall in crude oil prices did
not add to pressure on propylene feedstock markets. East China propylene increased Yuan 25/mt over the course of
the day to Yuan 7,125/mt exp-tank. A South
Korean producer stated that China has lowered interest rates, and released
economic support programs -- measures that are different from what other
countries are doing. The producer said
