The Asian polypropylene market ended the Aug. 6 trading week on a stable to soft note as weak end-user demand and rising supplies weighed on prices across the region. With trade activity largely muted, trade sources noted that demand was sluggish, as buyers preferred to adopt a wait-andsee stance amid uncertainties surrounding US tariffs. Suppliers noted that the majority of buyers showed little appetite for imported materials and instead procured materials domestically. Furthermore, there was a shift in buying patterns, where end-users purchased just enough to meet immediate needs without accumulating additional stocks, sources added. In the key China market, an inventory buildup exerted downward pressure on domestic prices.
