Asian nylon-6 prices edged up early in the week to Aug. 6, driven by stronger caprolactam prices. However, sentiment gradually cooled as demand proved to be persistently weak later in the week. "Our sales this week are not ideal, as buyers seem to be adopting a wait-and-see approach after last week's price hike," a producer said. "Supply has also increased this week after several plant restarts, making operating rates higher at around 81%." Another producer source echoed a similar sentiment: "There's no positive news. Demand remains weak, and the oversupply issue persists." In the export market, current price levels continue to face resistance from overseas buyers and pressure from weak demand in summer, despite eased freight rates, according to China-based exporters.
