Sources said that water levels in the Rhine
river continue to exert pressure on the supply chain for petrochemical firms,
who were looking for transport alternatives. The Rhine water level at Kaub, Germany's key
chokepoint, dropped 1 cm to 68 cm on July 20. According
to WSV, the German waterways authority, there is a slight increase in the
forecast to 78cm by July 24. Due to increased freight costs and
restrictions on the amount of cargo that barges can carry, petrochemical
