In the week ending February 9, 2009,
there were mixed developments in the European linear low-density polyethylene
(LLDPE) market. While some market participants pointed to increased import
volumes, others cited tightening supply in LLDPE C4 markets, citing a lack of
additives in the manufacturing process. LLDPE
C6 was not readily available and supply chain disruptions continued to cause
delays and problems across all LLDPE markets. Logistical problems were predicted to increase the volume of
LLDPE imports and reduce their impact on Europe's supply. One source stated that supply chain problems are still present
or getting worse. The source said that the
US is particularly congested, with truck driver shortages and equipment
