Due to a bearish China market, Asian
butadiene dropped Nov. 8. The
benchmark CFR China butadiene prices fell $10/mt on the day to $740/mt Nov. 8,
the lowest price since $660/mt Jan. 12. The
Chinese domestic butadiene market price fell Yuan 400/mt in the day. It was
assessed at Yuan 6,600/mt November 8, or $793/mt if you consider import-parity. Due to COVID-19 lockdowns being implemented in certain
regions of China, bearish concerns about petrochemical demand could be a
result. This could slow down economic activity. Sources indicated that although Asia's butadiene markets may
be bearish, they are unlikely to collapse due to a narrowing spread of
