Asian butadiene prices remained stable in
thin trade on 26 June. The discussion remained limited due to limited spot
availability, lower steam cracker operations, and declining demand. China's domestic market
was stable after the previous session. It was assessed at Yuan 10,800-11,000/mt
on June 27. This equates to $1,398-1,420/mt if you use import parity. Some traders tried to find arbitrage opportunities to ship
cargoes of Asian origin to the US. However, no fixtures were found amid high
freight rates. According to trading sources,
the Asia-US freight rate was around $500-530/mt. This would require traders to
secure the cargo at $1400-1430/mt FOB Asia in order to make the trip viable. However, butadiene demand was decreasing in Asia as
