As buyers continue to resist imports, the
Asian propylene market fell for four consecutive days. The September ICE Brent crude oil futures
dropped $2-3/b from their previous Asian session on July 14. They were at $98.5-103.50/b
by 0830 GMT Asian close on July 14. This reflects the decline in propylene
interest. Chinese buyers stated that the downstream demand
for propylene remains weak, which impacted buying interest in propylene imports. According
to plant news, China’s Tianjin Bohai Chemical Group was able to produce
propylene on-spec two weeks ago. It commissioned its 1.8million methanol-to
olefin plant on June 12. Market sources expected that the MTO
plant would be fully operational by mid-July. It takes approximately a month
for stable production...
