Due to recession fears and low
market activity, US oxo-alcohol prices were fluctuating over the week of July
14. Normal butanol export prices held
steady at $2,065-2,075/mt FOB USG week July 14, based on levels discussed
between $2,000-2,040/mt & $2,125-2,170/mt. The
domestic side saw NBA prices rise 0.5 cents to 115c/lb based on domestic
pricing discussed at that level. Mid-July, a source stated that the
demand for NBA was greater than the demand for 2-ethyl hexanol. Based on
last heard pricing indications, and a $70 weekly decline in the CFR China
marker, export 2-EH declined $70 to $1,615-1,625/mt. The
domestic price was unchanged at 114-115c/lb week over week. The June US
propylene CP settled at 10 cents...
