Based on the stifling demand, US July
DDP-benzene was stable at 505c/gal on July 20 and remained steady throughout
the day. RBOB gasoline was at $3.67-4.50/gal,
an increase of 1.06%. WTI crude futures increased from $1.61 to
$102.61-120.50/bl on July 20. On July 20, the benzene to crude
ratio was 2.07, up from 2.04 on Jul 19. This ratio
was almost equal to the historical average of 2. One source
noted that benzene was following crude futures more than gasoline futures in
recent times, due to a decrease in demand for benzene derivatives. Sources
noted that market participants were waiting and watching due to the volatility
