- Dec talks mainly over- China's Shenghong will open a new plant



As quiet trading continued, Asian butadiene
was steady throughout the day and week Dec. 2. On Dec. 2, the CFR China
butadiene market price was stable at $760-780/mt. Since Nov. 18, the price has remained steady as buyers and
sellers waited to see what would happen. Overall
market sentiment was less positive with China's main supplier Sinopec cutting
its local price by Yuan 200/mt from last week to Yuan 6,500/mt. This is
approximately $799-818/mt if you consider import parity. Additional butadiene supplies will be available in
December's second half. Sources close to
the matter revealed that China's Shenghong Petrochemical will open its 160,000
mt/year new butadiene facility in Lianyungang during the second half December. Suppliers were reluctant to make offers despite rising
