On May 11, the Northeast Asian ethylene
prices fell $20-25/mt due to weak demand. The Southeast Asian ethylene prices
remained steady at $920-940/mt. Due
to the low demand for ethylene-derived products, such as styrene monmer, buyers
have expressed concern about unhealthy downstream margins. One deal, concluded at $865-880/mt CIF NE Asia, highlighted
a bearish sentiment in the market. Market
participants reported buying indications ranging from $840/mt up to $850/mt,
CFR NE Asia. This was largely unaffected despite some changes in the region. Southeast Asian ethylene was a dull market. According to some market sources, there were fewer vessels
available for delivery. Participants had also met their ethylene needs for May
