Asian Methanol: Prices steady on ample supply, slow demand / Chinese coastal methanol stock up 14.5% WOW / SE Asian methanol cargoes heard offered to China

Asian methanol prices were little changed Aug. 8 from the week before, amid sluggish demand and ample supply. In China, a Southeast Asian-origin cargo was heard offered Aug. 6 at a 1.5% premium to the ICIS Specific Origin China methanol price, while a buying indication was heard at a 1.2% premium to the ICIS SO China price. There were few fixed-priced bids and offers in the Chinese dollar-denominated methanol market in the week ended Aug. 8. A Malaysian-origin methanol cargo of 5,000 mt was traded Aug. 1 at a 1.5% premium to ICIS SO China methanol price.
