Crude Oil drops 2.5% to a 3-week low amid fears about demand

Crude oil prices fell by 2,5% on Tuesday and reached a new three-week low. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC+), which is concerned about a possible global economic slowdown due to trade war effects, which could lead to a reduction in energy demand, maintained a firm stance against increasing production. The prices were also under pressure due to the escalating geopolitical conflict between Russia and Ukraine. This was marked by counterattacks and attacks, despite assurances given by U.S. president Donald Trump that he would work aggressively to resolve differences. Research data showed that Brent crude futures on the Intercontinental Exchange for near-month deliveries fell by 2.4 per cent, or US$1.61 a barrel, on Tuesday.
