Asian MTBE prices dropped
$20.76-$25.89/mt on the day to $880.74-$895.86/mt on October 13 because of a
weakening MTBE factor due to lower gasoline and upstream prices. December ICE Brent crude
oil futures dropped $1.83-$2.94/barrel at $92.91-$97.87/b at 0830 GMT in Asian
trade. RON 92 FOB Singapore gasoline fell $1.10-$3.30/b to $91.20-$96.45/b. The inter-product crack in crude oil and gasoline increased
by $0.73-$1.89/b, to $1.71-$2.92/b. Market
participants expected a slowly weaker MTBE marketplace going into November. The
MTBE markets seemed to be more dependent on fundamentals. A trader commented on the outlook for FOB Singapore MTBE
markets, saying that MTBE was long in November and the December picture
