Due to low trading activity and a stronger
oil market on July 7, the Northwest European naphtha crack fell $2.40-3.50/b. Due to higher oil prices
and low trading activity in both paper and physical markets, crack fell from
$2.40-3.50/b to $12.90-18.50/b. A source
said that recovery in naphtha seems primarily supply-driven. "I don't see
significant changes in NWE demand, especially with lower gas-nap (spread of
gasoline against naphtha) and also ethylene or propylene settling lower in
July." Sources say that the June
supply of naphtha has been reduced due to open arbitrage to Asia. Full-range
naphtha, despite low cracks, is in strong demand in Asia. In July, 368,000 mt are expected to move from Asia to the
