Sources said that the Northwest Europe
naphtha cargo crack market moved from its record low of June 15 despite
gasoline blending demand remaining slow in Europe due to a lack of octane
boosts required to add naphtha to the blending pool. Market backwardation was
also a factor. The July crack was valued
at minus $28.40-33.50/b, up to $1/b per day. "The naphtha market is quiet right now. . . Because it is so expensive to get octane boosters, blending
