Downstream demand slows further ahead of holidays / Local east China molten caprolactam up Yuan 200-250/mt

Asian caprolactam prices rose in the week endedJan. 29, buoyed by stronger upstream movement, albeit slowing downstream demand. "Caprolactam is stronger mainly due to the rally in benzene, and sellers are raising prices to pass on cost pressure as the spread narrowed," a Unv1ese buyer said. "But improvement on the demand side has yet to be seen, as downstream activity has started to slow ahead of the February holiday season." Demand continued to slow as market activity eased, with inquiries decreasing as China prepares to enter the Lunar New Year holidays in the next two weeks, market sources said.
