The European polyether polyol markets continued to see upward pressure on prices due to supply constraints. The week saw a subdued demand as buyers remained largely on the sidelines in anticipation of the monthly contract price settlements for the key feedstock, propylene. Buyers were reluctant to commit to the spot markets in the second half March due to expectations of a price reduction for propylene. While the demand for propylene was low, supply constraints continued to put upward pressure on prices. A higher level of offer was made for April due to the reduced availability of propylene oxide, a key feedstock. This was due to lower operating rates and production problems.
