The US Gulf Coast spot propylene
levels remained steady during week 27 of July, despite the minimal market activity
and low demand. However, upstream propylene monomer levels rose during the week. The US export homopolymer injection grade PP was
unchanged week-on-week at $1,786-1,808/mt or 76c/lb FAS Houston. This is
despite domestic levels last discussed at 76-83c/lb for railroad cars. This
assessment also considered exports that were not feasible due to a lack of
appetite. The US dollar is strengthening and global financial conditions are
worsening. Based on talk of a 3-cent premium for
homopolymer grades, the co-polymer quality was also flat assessed at
$1,852-$1,874/mt or 79c/lb FAS Houston. Additional
