that impacted sentiment caused prices to fall in Asian PET markets. Many Chinese
polymerization plants entered early turnarounds due to high stock levels and
low sales. We have no choice, as the
apparel industry is still weak and it is difficult to export our products. A Chinese producer said that producing less is a way to
reduce costs and manage inventory. High
feedstock prices and slow downstream activity meant that margins were very
tight and turnarounds were mostly on yarn and polyester fiber production lines. The sentiment was affected by the high upstream PX prices
