Market sources said that China's methanol
prices were mostly rangebound on November 24, with little trade activity
towards the end of the month. Market
sources stated that despite price swings in the upstream oil and gas markets
price fluctuations remained limited in China. There were only slight gains in
the Chinese domestic futures exchange. Market
participants stated that although supply has declined with port inventories
falling, demand has been weak due to COVID-19 restrictions as well as poor
economics at the methanol-to-olefins plant. Sources
said that restocking could still occur in the last week of November because some
market participants may have to meet month-end obligations or stock up for
