In spite of a tight supply, Asian mono
ethylene glycol was valued at $10-15/mt on June 30, at $560-590/mt CFR China. On the Dalian Commodity
Exchange, September MEG futures were active and traded at Yuan 78-90/mt. This
was Yuan 4,536-4,570/mt exchange. August
ICE Brent crude oil futures fell $1.55/b to $116.11/b by the 0830 GMT Asian
closing on June 30. In-plant news: China's
Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co. at Jinshan has closed its 605,000 mt/year
MEG facility since an explosion and fire on June 18. Industry sources close to
this matter confirmed that. Sources said
that the MEG plant might not reopen until August. As prices continue to fall in key downstream markets, the
extended shutdown didn't help MEG...
