As volatile crude oil prices and downstream
PTA prices weighed on the market, the Asian paraxylene market continued to show
a downward trend. Asian paraxylene fell $40-45/mt to
$1,099-1,130/mt CRU Unv1/China on July 13 and $1,079-1,100/mt FBO Korea on July
13. This brought the paraxylene/naphtha spread down to $318.75-350.50/mt, a
two-month low. The spread between CFR China paraxylene &
FOB Korea isomer -MX increased to $70.25-75.25/mt. This was an increase of $90-95/mt
as paraxylene falls outpaced isomer -MX. The market
was worried by China's bearish demand, particularly after talks about further
cuts to the polyester sector. The PTA September futures on the
Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange fell 5.05% to Yuan 55570-55700/mt each day and
triggered a limit-down. This volatility caused a slowdown...
