On Sept. 12, discussions in the Chinese
market for methanol were muted due to China's public holiday. Due to rising costs of
feedstock coal, natural gas, and tight Iranian supply, the Chinese methanol
price will remain firm to stable this week. Since the start of Zhejing Xingxing New Energy’s methanol
to-olefins facility on Sept. 1, CFR China methanol has steadily risen. CFR China's methanol price increased $13-18/mt per day to
$318-330/mt on Sept. 9, and remained stable at that level through Sept. 12,
when China was on holiday. The CFR India
methanol marker was at $302-315/mt CFR India on Sept. 12, an increase of $1-2/mt. Market players expect tradable levels for India to increase
