Asian paraxylene fell $31.50-35.25/mt to
$1,259-1,290/mt CFR Unv1/China on June 29. This was weighed down by sharp falls
in the downstream market as well as the weakening sentiment. As producers cut
production to maintain prices, there was talk of run-offs at China's main
polyester plants. According to market
sources, the polyester inventory was increasing due to slow demand. This has
put pressure on producers and the fiber margins of polyester yarn were also
deteriorating. A few sources said that the
market is still waiting for producers to take action on the changes in
operating rates. This bearishness was
evident in the purified Terephthalic Acid market, where the September futures
