Talks were limited in the Asian phenol
market and Asian acetone markets as little buyers were heard. In east
China spot ex-tank domestic materials were discussed at lower between Yuan
7,900-8,800/mt or Yuan 7,950/mt factoring import-parity calculations. This level was $21.05-26.25/mt lower than the week,
and slightly below the typical breakeven for feedstock benzene. CFR China
phenol dropped $25/mt from $950/mt Dec. 13, although local sources also
attributed weak demand for bisphenol A (BPA), and methyl methacrylate (MMA) to
this decline. Yuan 5,925/mt was discussed, or $712.59/mt. CFR China's
acetone prices fell $10/mt, to $660/mt. Indications for acetone or phenol were
very limited from the Southeast Asia region. An buying
indicator for acetone at CFR Southeast Asia was received at "below $750-770/mt",
but no counter offers were...
