Asian MTBE fell $6/mt to $987/mt Nov. 17,
as crude fell amid a weaker demand outlook. MTBE was flat at 1.233 during the Market on
Close assessment on Nov. 17. There were no offers or bids. According to
a market source, market participants expected MTBE exports to China to decrease
as domestic prices rise and the Yuan to dollar is stronger. The same
source said that the domestic Chinese price had increased by about Yuan 200-250/mt
in a matter of weeks. A trader claimed that MTBE FOB China was being
offered at approximately $1,000-1040/mt for December loading cargoes. The FOB
