Asian FOB Singapore MTBE fell $8-10/mt per
day to $1,030-1,060/mt on July 14. This was due to lower demand and bearish
gasoline prices in Asia. One source in Singapore said that
recession fears are "very bad" and that gasoline is likely to see a
decline. According to sources, market sentiment has
changed since last week and people are worried about a drop in gasoline demand. Sources say
that gasoline blending demand from US markets has also waned and that the
China market arbitrage to China is not feasible at the moment. To make any
deal possible, the FOB China market must trade at least $1,000-1,040/mt FOB
