The prices for China's dollar-denominated
Methanol Cargoes were stable on August 25, despite the fact that domestic
methanol prices have risen this week over feedstock cost. Market sources say that
high natural gas prices and high freight costs continue to affect sentiment in
the market. A few Iranian methanol producers have cut operating rates or
temporarily stopped production. The
domestic methanol price in East China is up Yuan 75/mt over the past week, at
Yuan 2,500/mt ex-tank Aug. 25, and $300/mt if you consider import-parity. A trader stated that the prices reflect concerns about
