The deterioration in Chinese phenol prices
was widely anticipated to increase further, which could be worsened in
future by new capacity in the East China domestic market. There were at least
two new phenol-acetone plants that would be available by the end in order to
help the oversupplied market. Spot phenol
supplies in East China's domestic market were discussed at Yuan
8600-8650/mt or approximately $1,009.51/mt Yuan 8,625/mt. The decline
in the feedstock gasoline benzene FOB Korea price marker was less than
expected. It dropped $8.17/mt from previous weeks, bringing the phenol
price margin closer to the breakeven level of approximately $992.33/mt. CFR
China, phenol dropped $55/mt, to $1,010/mt Nov. 22. No
indications of have been heard from the Southeast Asia...
