According to industry sources, Asian
toluene prices dropped Dec. 5. Further downward pressure was felt as there was
less demand from Southeast Asia and slow interest from South Asia. The FOB Korea marker fell
$25/mt to $739/mt. This is despite an offer of $740/mt for 2000 mt loading in
January, ASTM D-841 and a letter of credit. For the same quantity and laycans, a buyer was found at
$765/mt. However, the minimum purity level must be 99.5% and it must be loaded
from a large berth. There were no trades. According to industry sources, South Korean producers
provided more details about the tenders for term toluenes and solvent
