Dec. 21 saw Asian toluene prices remain
stable-to-firm, largely due to higher crude oil prices. During the Market on Close
assessment process, there were no transparent offers or bids. Sources said that a bid was made for 2,000 mt toluene ASTM
D-841 at minimum 99.5% purity. It was received at $770-780/mt and requested
Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (or CEPA) documentation. There were no trades reported. A trader based in China stated that he didn't receive any
offers and that most suppliers [in China] are currently discussing term
contracts. A broker stated that there was
"less buying...less need" in China's domestic market. Sources said that prompt ex-tank supplies were not discussed
much with H2 December's bid at...
