Asian styrene prices dropped on February
17, following sluggish benzene, oil markets, and weaker UPR [unsaturated
polyester resin] sales. Domestic ex-Kandla price was around Rupees 99/kg. A trader said that this amounts to approximately
$1,156/kg, on an import-parity basis, after accounting for storage costs and
handling. The inventories and sellers are therefore
unwilling to sell. Buyers expect prices to fall further. Buyers
