China and India phenol domestic prices inch higher than week | Traders cautious amid falling upstream benzene | Acetone's downstream markets brace for demand recovery

The Asia phenol and Asia acetone markets
were plagued by excess material and low demand. This marked a drop of $77.34-92.50/mt
from the previous week, and below breakeven level. On Nov. 29, the FOB Korea
benzene marker stood at $760-680/mt. Some
North China producers were at higher levels of Yuan
8,300/mt. Producers in China were not able to export phenol directly
because of price differences with other importing destinations. Another source stated that India received no offers for
phenol of Chinese origin. The CFR China
phenol physical dropped $77/mt from $940/mt. CFR discussion in India
slipped further due to low demand for December cargoes. At $1,050-1,090/mt CFR India, offers were made for a
