With strong selling and buying indications,
the Asian spot polystyrene markets rose over the seven days to September 14. China saw an improvement
in production rates as producers looked for pockets of profitability amid a
poor year. According to a producer in the
general-purpose polystyrene (GPPS) market, September saw stronger buying
interest than August. Deals concluded at $1,330-1,350/mt CFR Southeast Asia. Another producer stated that demand has increased due to
recent increases in GPPS prices, which led buyers with low inventories to stock
up. GPPS CFR China up $50-55/mt on the
week at $1.290-2.600/mt September 14, below offers at $1.330-$1,350/mt and
$1.360-$1,380/mt considering a larger Chinese domestic market. CFR Southeast Asia was up $20-25/mt last week at $1.340-2.500/mt....
