Asian PS prices stable or lower as buyers remain cautious about tariff uncertainty / Downstream customers delay orders due to tariff impact / China PS run rate is down 2.67% WOW, EPS run rate is down 5.7%

The May 7 assessment of general-purpose polystyrene CFR China markers and CFR Southeast Asia marks was $1,095/mt & $1,105/mt respectively. Both were stable from the previous assessment. High-impact polystyrene CFR China markers and CFR Southeast Asia marks are $1,170/mt each, and $1,180/mt respectively, both down $20/mt since the last assessment. One polystyrene manufacturer in Thailand stated that "demand for PS has been quite slow, even though local producers are operating at around 80%." We have been informed by some customers to delay or make partial shipments. The operating rate is 70% this week and plans are to stop [high impact polystyrene] at the end the month, according to a UNV1 polystyrene manufacturer.
