As propane prices fall, the Asian naphtha complex is bullish / Moving forward, trading cycle to H1 Feb delivery

As the trading cycle progressed, activity emerged in Asia's naphtha markets for February deliveries into North Asia. Japan's Asahi Kasei Mitsubishi Chemical Ethylene Corp. purchased via tender naphtha at a premium of $9.50/mt according to the Mean of Japan naphtha assessment, CFR. Pricing was set 45 days before delivery. Japan's Mitsui Chemicals bought naphtha at a premium of the high teens/mt. to Mean Japan naphtha assessment, CFR. Lotte Chemical, South Korea, was looking for naphtha with at least 70% paraffin content in order to deliver H2 Jan. The tender closed Dec. 16. The Asian naphtha market was fundamentally bearish due to a falling propane price and weaker olefin markets. The spread of CFR Japan naphtha against front-month ICE Brent crude oil futures narrowed by $1.475/mt on day to $151.65/mt as of Dec. 15. Naphtha has become...
