The US acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene
assessment remained stable over the week, as upstream spot prices for styrene
remained flat during the week ending Dec. 14. Spot ABS was valued at between 105 and 107
cents/lb on week. Spot export acrylonitrile prices dropped on
December 13th for the first time since mid November, according to a source.
This was because demand was mixed and companies were slowly moving towards the
end of the year. Sources said that December's US butadiene
contract prices were 10 cents/lb less than November. Market
feedback indicated that all four producers - ExxonMobil Shell, TPC Group, and
LyondellBasell – were heard to have nominated at 54c/lb. This is 10c/lb lower
