European benzene prices remained steady on
July 28th, with an increase in trading activity from the previous day. The forward delivery
period of five to thirty days can be estimated at $1,130-1,150/mt CIF/ARA. This
is consistent with August's latest trade. Since
July 22, the contract settlement window opened, and liquidity has been high in the
benzene markets. Over the past few days,
more than 25 trades were recorded with an average of $1,090-$1,180/mt. This contrasted with the June contract pricing window where
only four trades were recorded from the market. The August settlement trading window closed on July 28. The downstream styrene activity was still low ahead of the
Aug. 1 contract price settlement. The
