US Gulf Benzene Spot Prices Rise amid Deals, Reports of Downstream Issues / Price reaches highest level since April 2, / Two trades done at 268 cents/gal

Spot benzene ended the week at its highest level since April, amid reports of disruptions in downstream. DDP benzene for May and June was at 264 and 268 cents/gal on May 16. This is a 2 cent increase day-over-day. This was the highest level of prompt assessment since April 2. Two trades were reported to have taken place at this level, which explains the day-to-day increase. The two trades were both for 20,000 barrels to be delivered in June, and at the same rate of 268 cents/gal. It was believed that an interruption in the production of styrene monmer in North America had supported spot styrene.
