UK spot prices trend up Interest in imports rises  



In the week ending April
20, the European polyethylene terephthalate (EPET) spot market was quiet.
Buyers opted to concentrate on contract volumes and stay out of the spot
market. Some market participants believe that recent price increases
have contributed to the weak spot demand. However, contract commitments during
peak season were also a factor in limiting spot material demand. In the current environment of high prices, buyers were
cautious and aimed to avoid stock build. However, import volumes have been
increasing despite long lead times. Spot
demand was low, so availability was not a concern. Spot prices in northwest Europe were unchanged at Eur1,730-1,750/mt.
However, UK spot prices trended upwards despite limited buying appetite and
were up GBP 25-28/mt for the week to GBP...
